In a surprising turn of events, University of Santo Tomas (UST) Alumni Association just announced that they just granted Mocha Uson the Thomasian Award for Government Service.

According to UST Alumni Association President Henry Tenedero, Uson was given the award to serve as an inspiration to other government workers, regardless of political affiliation.

Past winners of the award include:  former Philhealth president and CEO Dr. Rey B. Aquino (2011), and former Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio M. Umali (2016).

Uson served as a board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) from January 27, 2017 until her appointment as assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) in May.

Meanwhile, here are the reactions from netizens:

“is this some kind of a sick joke, UST?”

“The group’s obviously sucking up. Like every other group does to whoever is at the top, be it dilawan or not. #RealityBites
