Robin Padilla received flak from netizens after he allegedly bullied a Korean contestant on Pilipinas Got Talent Season 6. Korean Contestant Jiwan Kim tried asking for help from Robin, when Robin reprimanded Jiwan for speaking in English.

According to Robin, Jiwan is in a competition called ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ and it is his responsibility to speak in Filipino. Robin emphasized a lot of times that the competition is called ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’, Angel intervened a bit a taught Jiwan some Filipino words, but the atmosphere during the show already turned a bit awkward.

Many netizens who watched the show did not like what Robin did and took to social media to express their opinions and criticisms online.

Robin was also mocked by netizens because last year he was generous to a young and sexy female contestant who did not speak Filipino, but this time around he was harsh because it was a man. Because of this, a lot of people are accusing Robin of having double-standards and being helpful towards the young girl because she was good looking and sexy, while he acted rude towards Jiwan because he was a man.

Robin finally spoke about the issue. He defended himself saying it’s only natural to expect Jiwan to speak Filipino because he had been in the Philippines for 10 years and he has a Pinay girlfriend. Robin says whenever he goes to a foreign country, he tries very hard to learn their language because it is a sign of respect as a visitor to make an effort and adapt to where you are. Robin reasoned that he was surprised that Jiwan did not learn Tagalog even though he has been in the Philippines for about 10 years, he believes it is a bit disrespectful on Jiwan’s part because he did not try to learn Filipino. Robin also said he was not being harsh and mean towards Jiwan, and he only wanted to give the young man advice as an older male figure.

Here are the reactions from netizens:

“Somehow tama naman siya at nagpaliwanag naman sya after ng performance ng contestant. Siguro yung iba hindi tinapos yung video. Robin is Robin. Kilala naman siya ng tao. 😊#justsaying

“For me? May mali karin kua Robin? Kasi pinahiya mo yong tao sa TV? At maraming nakapanood? Diba ang 2nd language ng mga pilipino ay English? Sabihin natin na 10years na si koreano sa pinas, bakit d siya marunong pa mag salita ng tagalog ?bakit required ba silang mag aral ng tagalog 🤬”

“I have watched PGT’s episode last night and as a natural born citizen of the Philippines, I want to defend Mr.Robin Padilla’s side. Wala naman talagang mali, people are just over reacting, making headlines/issues na mas nakikita nila ang negative side. Maybe his words and actions failed him or misinterpreted by many. I admit, I am fond of Korean culture but Pinoys don’t speak “tagalog” when competing abroad. Vice is right, it is our social responsibility to learn the local language. hays! C’mon people, its 2018 Spread love!

PS: Parang tatay lang na sinermonan ang anak di ba? :D”

“Maraming close minded talaga dito. Isa lang naman yan e. Matuto tayong ipagmalaki ang pagiging Pilipino natin. Yan ang nagagawa ng pagiging panatiko ng iba sa mga Koreano. Akala nyo lahat ng koreanong nakakasalubong at nakikita nyo celebrities. Mga sarili nyo di nyo na namamalayan naiaalay nyo na sa mga banyaga. Matuto tayong ipagmalaki pagiging Pilipino natin!!!”
