The Philippine National Police will strictly implement a liquor ban and gun ban on Tuesday during the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene.

According to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Oscar Albayalde, the gun ban will start 12 PM today, January 8, until 12 PM of January 10. This will be implemented throughout the city of Manila.

Meanwhile, the PNP will also enforce a liquor ban in the areas surrounding the route of the Black Nazarene, in particular the Sta. Cruz and Quiapo area.

The 36-hour liquor ban will start on Monday afternoon and will end on Wednesday morning.

Albayalde says that implementing the gun and liquor ban is part of the security measures to ensure that the feast of the Black Nazarene will be as peaceful and safe for everyone.

The PNP will also continue to jam cellphone signals during the Traslacion to ensure further security and hinder any hypothetical coordinated attacks.

He also encouraged the devotees to be alert and always take care of their belongings that might be targeted by criminals.
