Janine Gutierrez, nagkaroon umano ng “life changing” trip sa Sorsogon!
As people are starting on their respective New Year’s Resolutions, celebrity Janine Gutierrez has a different kind of New Year’s Resolution in mind.
Gutierrez is one of WWF (World Wildlife Fund) Philippines’ National Youth Ambassadors. Part of her duties as National Youth Ambassador is to promote ecotourism. She recently just fulfilled that, as she flew to Donsol, Sorsogon with WWF.
“I went with WWF to Donsol a few months ago, and then nag-swimming kami kasama yung mga butanding [whale sharks]… Sobrang na-educate nila ako on how that specific project site na inalagaan ng WWF helped na sobrang umangat yung kalidad ng buhay ng mga tao dun sa Donsol. (We went swimming with the whale sharks. I really learned how that specific project site under the WWF helped people’s lives in Donsol.),” says the Kapuso star.
After her trip, she admits that she was really inspired to let others become more aware of how they affect the environment, saying, “WWF isn’t just about saving the animals. It’s really about preserving the livelihood of the people.”
She also wants to let people know that effective change isn’t too late after all.
“Alam ko madami sa atin (I know a lot of us) have become a little… hopeless… But there is really so much that we can do to turn things around for the future and for the people that we also have to look out for.”
